New Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree Program in Photography
Seattle, WA (November 26, 2007) - The Art Institute of Seattle (www.artinstitutes.edu/seattle) announced
that it has received approval from the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) to begin
offering a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program in Photography.
The Art Institute presently offers an Associate's of Applied Arts degree program
in Photography and is pleased to introduce this new Bachelor's program to
enable graduates to meet growing employer needs in the marketplace for
this rapidly growing field.
The Art Institute of Seattle's Bachelor of Fine Arts in photography will afford students significant opportunity to refine their creative, technical and professional prowess under the guidance of an expanded, expert faculty.
The BFA curriculum will have courses devoted to creative expression through multiple imagery, as well as individual pieces.
The program will have twice the business and professional development courses of the associates and twice
as many portfolio courses, too.
Graduates from the BFA Photography program will demonstrate a substantially elevated sense of concept and image refinement as it relates to providing creative marketing solutions for business image buyers, as well as serving the retail image-consumer market.
The baccalaureate graduate will also enter the photographic industry with increased potential for upward mobility and have a business plan that will more adroitly facilitate their establishment as a sustainable business entity.
Says Jeff Parks, Academic Director of The Art Institute's Photography Programs, "A bachelor's degree in photography from the Art Institute of Seattle will not only empower much greater aesthetic, technical and
conceptual development in its graduates, compared to those of the associates program; but along with the added courses in general education, will produce alumni that generall greater culturalrames of reference from which
they can define and project themselves socially as well as professionally."
Classes for The Art Institute's new degree program begin with the school's spring quarter on March 31, 2008. Individuals interested in more information on The Art Institute's academic programs can call toll free
