Most visitors and temporary workers may not need to speak English during their interview. Student visa applicants (F&M visas) only need to demonstrate that they speak English if the school thinks the applicant has English language capabilities. The school will list the English language ability requirements under section 6, “English Proficiency” of the I-20. If the school thinks that the student has the required English language ability, the Consular officer might ask the applicant to speak in English during the interview. If the applicant does not demonstrate English ability at the interview, the officer might ask the applicant to provide a letter from the school indicating that the student’s English level is acceptable.
J (exchange program) visa applicants will need to speak English during the interview however. U.S. laws state that J visa applicants must possess a level of English sufficient enough to participate in their program, so Consular officers will ask a J visa applicant to speak in English.
For most other visa interviews, the Consular officer will speak in English or solicit the help of an interpreter.

대부분의 다른 비자 인터뷰들에서는 영사가 영어로 대화하거나 통역관의 도움을 얻으려고 할 것입니다.
